Coin Story

These convex shaped silver proof coins are dedicated to the "Orthodox Shrines". The icon depicts Moses lifting the sandals and looking at the Burning Bush. The landscape on the icon captures the two most important images - Mount Sinai and the Burning Bush. This image is paired with another icon of "Moses receiving the Commandments", which is similar in size and manner of writing. The icon refers to the XIII century and is stored in Egypt, Mount Sinai, in the monastery of St. Catherine. Today the icons are located on the north and south entrances to the chapel of the Burning Bush. Moses, on the icon, is shown as a beardless young man, taking off his shoes, due to the place on which he stands on - the Holy Land. The icon was painted as a pair to the image "Moses and the Burning Bush". It depicts the revelation of Moses on to of Mount Sinai. The Lord, who appeared as a cloud, gave his prophet two commandments covenant. The hands are completely covered in cloak, as a sign of reverence and obedience to the Creator. The icons are both compositionally very similar. Repetitive motion - kneeling with extended left leg and the right leg delayed of dramatically.

Reverse Design

The reverse designs depict Moses and the Burning Bush, and Moses receiving the Commandments. The character is designed to match the original icon and offsets itself against the reflecting silver proof background. The characters are coloured, while the rest of the icon is engraved in the face of the coins.

Obverse Design

The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The coins are packaged inside an elegant and rich wooden box. It is in a beautiful case, which is doing a great job in staging these remarkable coins. The Certificate of Authenticity is displayed on the inner packaging.
