Coin Story

The eastern brown snake, often referred to as the common brown snake, is a species of venomous elapid snake of the genus Pseudonaja. This snake is considered the world's second most venomous land snake based on its LD50 value (SC) in mice. It is native to Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia.

Reverse Design

The coin’s reverse depicts a spectacular coloured image of an Eastern Brown Snake. With its head high and neck in an ‘S’ shape, the agitated animal is ready to strike.

Obverse Design

Issued as legal tender of Tuvalu, the coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and the monetary denomination.
