Coin Story

As a true heavyweight of the aviation industry, Antonov has built or modified more than 100 types of aeroplane since 1946, including the truly remarkable An-225 Mriya, the world's largest plane. Perth Mint has issued ten different coins, each struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality to celebrate the Ukrainian company's immense contribution to aviation.

Reverse Design

The reverse of each coin portrays the Antonov company logo and the name and image of a notable aircraft: An-74 Designed as a freight transporter, the An-74 is also a successful regional passenger airliner offering short take-off and landing capability.

Obverse Design

Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of the Cook Islands, each coin depicts the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2008 year-date on the obverse.


The Antonov An-74 silver coin comes encapsulated, in a presentation case and the Perth Mint will release no more than 3,500 of each coin, which is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, describing each plane in English, Ukrainian and Russian.
