Coin Story

The Cloisonné-Eggs are inspired by the famous Fabergé-Eggs. The Russian tsar Alexander III commissioned the first Fabergé-Egg for his wife in 1885. She was so delighted, that from then on he gave his beloved a magnificent egg as a gift every Easter. After his death his son Nikolaus II continued the tradition and, up until the collapse of his reign in 1917, commissioned another 40 eggs. These works of art each came up with a surprise. Several miniatures such as eggs, trains or bouquets were embedded in them. In total, 50 splendid eggs were made which are privately owned or displayed in museums today.

Reverse Design

The reverse captures a beautifully designed red Fabergé egg. The design features 3 Bohemian Crystals and comes in Cloisonné-technique. A very special (egg-shaped) coin, which is truly a remarkable piece of art!

Obverse Design

Each coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the denomination of the coin.
