Coin Story

Creatures from the deep which most people will never see in real life. A coin series which might scare many people. Deep sea fish is a term for fish that live below the photic zone of the ocean. The lanternfish is, by far, the most common deep sea fish. Other deep sea fish include the flashlight fish, cookiecutter shark, bristlemouths, anglerfish, and viperfish.

Reverse Design

The reverse captures a dangerous looking Melancoetus Biseriatus. The fish is fully colored and offsets itself from the rest of this silver proof coin. A haze-like shape is engraved into the background, adding more pathos to the coin. At the bottom, the name of the series "Deep Sea Fish" is featured. Next to it, you can read the name of the fish "Melancoetus Biseriatus". The Year of issue is also engraved on this side of the coin "2010".

Obverse Design

The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the denomination of the coin "$2", the issuing country "Pitcairn Islands" and the year of issue "2010".

The Deep Sea Fish - Melancoetus Biseriatus silver proof coin comes encapsulated with a Certificate of Authenticity.
