Coin Story

The Labrador Retriever, also known as simply Labrador or Lab, is one of several kinds of retrievers, a type of gun dog. Labradors are athletic, playful, and the most popular breed of dog by registered ownership in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States (since 1991).
By purchasing this coin, you are making a donation of $1 to the RSPCA Australia, which relies on community support to provide care for animals in need.

Reverse Design

The coin’s reverse portrays a Labrador Retriever and a puppy in colour. A gentle, devoted and playful breed, the Labrador Retriever’s great temperament is matched by initiative, concentration and a strong desire to please. Ideally suited to a number of working roles, it is best-known as an assistance dog providing invaluable mobility and independence to visually-impaired people. As well as a decorative pattern of paw prints, the coin’s reverse also includes the inscriptions WORKING DOGS and LABRADOR RETRIVER – GUIDE DOG.

Obverse Design

Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the coin depicts the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2010 year-date on the obverse.

The Working Dogs - Labrador Retriever silver coin comes encapsuled in a presentation case (+ a signature box), with a Certificate of Authenticity.
