Coin Story

These silver proof coins with a serrated edge are dedicated to "Major Historical Events". The reasons, for Russia's refusal to actively support the continental system of Napoleon as the most important weapon agains England, were looked at, Napoleon's policy in relation to European countries, without taking Russian interests into account. In the first phase of war, the Russian army fought retiring from the boarders of Russian to Moscow, to the battle of Borodino. On September 14th, Napoleon conquered Moscow without a battle. On the same day, late at night, the city was engulfed in fire. The flames were so intense, that Napoleon was forced to leave the Kremlin one night later. The fire raged until the 18th of September and destroyed a great part of Moscow. In the second phase of the war, Napoleon's army, initially looking back to the winter quarters, completely withdrew from the Russian boarder, persuade by hunger, cold, and the Russian forces. The war ended, with the almost complete destruction of the Napoleonic army, the liberation of Russia and the relocation of military operations on the territories of the duchy of Warsaw and Germany, in 1813. The coins are issued in memory of the 200th anniversary of the war between France and Russia. They are made in the style, of the medals, of the time (antique finish), and there is very high relief on it. The maximum mintage is only 999 pieces of each coin, 499 sets and 500 single coins.

Reverse Design

The coins depict the French emperor Napoleon and the Russian emperor Kutuzov. There are two versions: One with Napoleon in the front, and one with Kutuzov. The coins have an antique finish, in order to match the style of the medals from that time period. They are beautifully designed pieces, and very rare coins!
