Coin Story
This magnificent coin dedicated to renaissance art presents the Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore, which for centuries has been a symbol of Florence and an object of the greatest pride of its inhabitants. The dome of this monument building and its craftsmanlike façade have been mapped on the coin with the highest attention to detail. Additionally a rosette from its frontal part as well as the upper part of the dome have been embedded with a wonderful insert made of blue natural agate gemstone.
Renaissance - the period in the history of European culture that lasted from the middle of the 15th century until the beginning of the 16th century. Renaissance was developed in Italy and the most distinguishing characteristic of this style is the revival of the architecture principles and forms of ancient art, mainly Roman. The convergence between painters and nature took place, the knowledge of anatomy improved; light effects and other natural phenomena influenced painting and sculpture. Buildings constructed during this period are characterized by simplicity and harmony.
