Coin Story

Jumping is probably the best known of the equestrian disciplines recognised by the FEI where men and women compete as equals in both individual and team events. In modern Jumping competitions, horse and rider are required to complete a course of 10 to 13 jumps, the objective of which is to test the combination’s skill, accuracy and training. The aim is always to jump the course in the designed sequence with no mistakes – a clear round. If any part of an obstacle is knocked down or if the horse refuses a jump, penalties are accumulated. The winner of the competition is the horse and rider combination that incurs the least number of penalties, completes the course in the fastest time or gains the highest number of points depending on the type of competition.

The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), founded in 1921, is the international body governing equestrian sport recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and it’s the sole controlling authority for all international events in Jumping, Dressage & Para-Equestrian Dressage, Eventing, Driving & Para-Equestrian Driving, Endurance, Vaulting and Reining. It is a great and diverse range of disciplines whom despite their many differences, are bound by their one common athlete – the horse. The FEI promotes equestrianism in all its forms and encourages the development of the FEI equestrian disciplines throughout the world, keeping the welfare of the horse at the heart of all activities.

Reverse Design

The reverse depicts an equestrian on his horse in a jumping competition. The character offsets itself against the silver proof background, due to the applied color. The rest of the image is finely engraved into the coin.

Obverse Design

Each coin features the Principality of Andorra coat of arms. The name of the issuing nation ‘PRINCIPAT D'ANDORRA’ appears along the top edge and the face value of ‘5 Diner’ is indicated in the exergue.

Packaging

The FEI Jumping coin comes encapsuled with a Certificate of Authenticity.
