Coin Story

The name "Chinggis Khaan" means ruler of the world in the Mongolian language. Chinggis Khaan, born Temujin, was truly the ruler of an immense empire. He was a Mongol Khaan, in English, who conquered vast parts of Central Asia and northern China. Accredited with the union of many nomadic tribes, he was granted the title of "Great Khan" and therefore became the sole ruler of all Mongolians. His reign lasted from 1206 to 1227. In this era, he began the Mongol invasions and the conquest of other areas stretching to the Sea of Japan in the East and the Caspian Sea in the west. When Chinggis Khaan died in August 1227, his empire was divided between his four sons who continued extending it. Two generations later, however, the Mongol Empire broke apart after repeated and long-lasting conflicts.

Reverse Design

The reverse of the silver coin depicts the great mongolian ruler Chinggis Khaan. The character offsets itself against the silver proof background, due to the very special applied color: The ruler comes in a "Black & White" finish. The reverse of the gold coin depicts the same image. The character is finely engraved into the gold background.

Obverse Design

The obverse represents the Bank of Mongolia emblem and the inscriptions indicating the face value of the coin, its issuing country, metal purity and weight.

Packaging

The Chinggis Khaan - Colored coin set comes in a specially designed case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
